Monport 50W Fiber Laser - EZCad2 Driver Issue

I have a new Monport 50W fiber laser and cannot get it setup with Lightburn. I followed the horrible provided directions from the laser manufacturer but when I go to import the markcfg7 file it will not take it. It will allow me to select the markcfg0 and the markcfg6 and they register but do not work. when I select the markcfg7 like I see everyone suggesting it says no compatible laser found and in Lightburn it just says disconnected and will not work. I am sure I am missing something simple, but hopeing someone here can steer me in the right direction so I can get this working. Has anyone had this happen or know what is happening ?

The laser USB did not come with EZCAD on it, I had to download it. There was no install just unzipped the folder and then went to the log folder and selected the markcfg7 file from there. Is there something different I need to do?

Please share a link to any instructions you are following for our reference.

Your laser should be detected as JCZFiber (for EZCAD2 devices) or BSLFiber (for SeaCAD devices) in the step before you import the marcfg7 file. Which one are you selecting?

Here are our docs for fiber driver installation:

The instructions say to do manual setup and not the automatic detection. The manual states to selet the JCZFiber and then import the markcfg7 file. I can select the file, but it does not allow me to click next after because it says no laser detected.

Which controller did you select before trying to import your markcfg7 file?

The JCZFiber controller which was indicated in the manual.

Are you referring to your laser manufacturer’s instructions or ours when you say manual? If you are following instructions elsewhere, please post a link.

“I followed the horrible provided directions from the laser manufacturer”

Can you navigate to your device manager to see how your laser is being recognized when it’s connected to your computer and powered on?

I mentioned it in the part you quoted from me - I am following the directions from the laser manufacturer (Monport). It has directions for installing and using with Lightburn. Their directions have step by step but I cannot get past the part where I am supposed to import the markcfg7 file. It simply will not let me do it. I can select it, but it says no laser found, and I cannot click next. If I select the markcfg0 or markcfg6 it shows the laser, and allows me to click next, but then the laser shows disconnected and does not work.

I would very much like to have the link to the directions you are following, provided by your laser manufacturer.

I recently learned that Monport changed the controller in some of their fiber lasers, perhaps their documentation is out of date?

Here is a link to the pdf manual - the exact one that was supplied with my laser;

Can you upload the markcfg7 file to the forum post here so I can try to replicate your issue?

What version of LightBurn are you currently using?

Hey.
This manual I got from Monport support which help you to install Lightburn and their BSL soft.

I would be glad if you check “fill” and line mode when you install Lightburn

To perform a fill and a line operation in the same layer, you would use Sublayers.

Latest version of Lightburn just downloaded from the site - and the markcfg7 is from the most recent EZCad2 download

The markcfg7 file should come from your laser manufacturer, usually provided on a USB flash drive.

My USB did not have a markcfg7 file. Everything including the manual says it comes from EZCAD folder. I downloaded EZCAD and used the one in the folder that was in the download.

Are you certain you don’t have markcfg7 file on your flash drive? Your manual references it:

I recommend reaching out to your laser manufacturer.

I checked and it is not there.

If your laser’s manufacturer didn’t provide the necessary settings, please contact them for assistance.

Mine live here on the supplied memory stick.
