More Xtool Homing Nightmare Issues

I do not usually use this this Xtool laser. I have an Ortur laser set up with a squaring jig that works fine for me all of the time. I just set up a similar jig on this Xtool. When I try to home this machine in Lightburn, the Y will go straight back, and not to the X0 Y0 position. I do not use the CREATIVE SPACE that
came with the Xtool. When I am using that Ortur, I just home it once, and then run parts from the jig location with no problems. Yes, when I try to home this Xtool when the laser head is about two inches out, the Y axis goes straight back to the rear of the machine, and not to the homing position of X0 Y0. This machine is the D1 20 watt with the extended rails.
Thanks All,
Tim

Is it an XTool D1 or D1 Pro? Also, what command are you using to home? I found that $h doesn’t work right, it has to be a capital $H, try that in console.

Shreelink, thanks for the reply. This is a D1 Pro. Below is what the console says;
ok
start_home x
left limit triggered
start_home y
up limit triggered
<MPos:0.000000,0.000000,0.000000
M28

ok:start
ok
ok
ok
[xTool D1Pro:ver40.31.003.01 B4]
ok
Homing
ok
start_home x
left limit triggered
start_home y
up limit triggered
<MPos:0.000000,0.000000,0.000000

I never thought about it, but I didn’t scroll down to if there was more added console. When I frame a part all seems good as it goes around the part. After framing the machine just stops there. When I press home, the carriage just goes straight back, but does not go to the X0 Y0
position. If I just move the carriage manually out to abouy X10. y10., when I press home, the carriage still goes straight back only. I’m sorry for the bad sounding text on my end, but this is what the machine is doing. On my Ortur laser, whenever I press home no matter where the carriage is, it always moves to the home position. I don’t know anything about the laser Gcodes, all I know is AMADA FANUC Gcodes for CNC turret punch presses. This might be something simple to fix, but all the help from you gurus is greatly appreciated.

Please move the head manually to the center, then in the console, can you try typing $H (make sure it’s a capital H) and pressing enter. Report back what it does.

Also you can try opening XCS and disabling the “limit switch” option to keep the machine from false-triggering an out of bounds stop.

October Grey. i started the xtool d1 pro, then turned on Lightburn and moved the head out about 8 inches from the x home and 4 out from the y home. i then typed $H (capitol letter) in console, pressed start and the head went straight back. when i pressed home at this location, all the head did was move about an inch further away from the x0 y0 location.

Odd, looking at what you pasted before, it looks like X is being triggered first. However, it’s not moving, this would indicate some problem with the limit switch.

Make sure there’s nothing inside the limit switch in the upper left, and also check the wiring.

EDIT: Also make sure to update your firmware. Latest on the D1 Pro should be V40.31.006.01 B2

thanks Shreelink, i will check on all of this and post back. right now at this time i don’t have good use of my right arm. it takes me a little bit of time to get around. but i will let you know what i find out. thanks, tim

Skreelink, I have found if i start the machine in the far left corner, frame, then cut a part, the laser will return to the home position. But if i frame only and do not cut, the machine goes straight back to the rail. this is probably a “quack” question. Maybe i got a lemon with this machine. Yes this is the xtool d1 pro 20 watt with the extension kit. On my Ortur machine, no matter where the laser is, wether framing, cutting or jogging the head to the center of the bed, when you press home, the head ALWAYS

Sorry all, on the unfinished above post, but the Ortur head always moves home.
Tim

Seems the homing issues always arise with the extension kit. I don’t have it so I’m not going to be much help.

Thanks Skreelink for all your help, like I said, that little Ortur (my first laser) is the best machine I got. If I manually move the head into the middle of the table and press home, it ALWAYS returns there. The xTool D1 Pro 20 watt is pretty good because it will cut through .156 under layment. If I get anymore questions, I will post.
Thanks Again,
Tim
