Mother of pearl cutting with diode laser

Hi everyone, i was just wondering if anyone has any information on it it is possible to cut mother of pearl sheets with a diode laser and if so what wattage laser would i need to accomplish this.

Thankyou

I can’t really find anything about cutting this material with a dpssl machine… They are all co2 types at around 60W, which seems high … I’ve never done it, but have seen it done with inlay work.

One company stated

Only one type of mother of pearl will cut well with the a Co2 laser. It is a very thin shell veneer made from real mother of pearl and is cut into sheets at a thickness of 0.005” (0.15mm) allowing for extremely precise laser cutting to be possible. This material is made in many color options and shell types.

Doesn’t sound like it works too well with a regular diode…

Good luck
