Multiple Passes when cutting

My 33w output laser, when selecting multiple passes for 1/2" wood sheets, will burn smaller areas. If I select 1 pass only for my project, then repeat, and repeat, and repeat as necessary - no significant burn spots - but time consuming, If I select, say, 4 passes, it will usually do 4 passes in multiple areas - causing some significant burning. I believe this is because the area has no chance to cool down as it does when I just choose one pass and then 8 to 9 minutes later [after a complete single pass] , choose another pass, then maybe another pass. Is there a way when I select multiple passes so that each entire project pass will be completed first, then repeat the full project, then repeat the full project for multiple passes? I don’t want Lightburn to do multiple passes in one area, especially the small areas, but have the entire project covered/cut in one pass, and then have the next pass do the same thing, and possibly more passes. Will unselecting “Optimize Cut Paths” allow a pass to be fully completed for a project before doing more passes?

Instead of specifying multiple passes for a single layer, setup a separate sublayer per pass that you want.

Did you ever resolve this, Jimbo? I am having the same issue… cutting small objects and needing full power, slower speed and 3 passes to get thru the material. The net result is that the material is charring badly, the backer is getting destroyed and the airflow is fanning embers and causing fires.

I want the 3 passes, but just run the whole job first then go back the the beginning and start over and give everything time to cool down.

Did you note my last reply to this? That offers a solution.

Yes, I did. I increased the air assist to maximum, created multiple layers, each layer with a different power and speed, and no issues any longer. It’s a trial and error in many instances until you get it right depending on what you’re trying to cut. I went through two or three sheets of Basswood before I was able to get the right combination. I usually start out with a higher power and slower speed first and then step the speed up and reduce the power in the next step and continue that in the third or fourth or fifth steps as needed. Hope this helps.

Do not Duplicate object(Ctrl + D) ,You should be use Copy (Ctrl + C) and (Ctrl + V) for paste copy object , In your case you must be ungroups multiple Passes object and click to cut ungroup one by one.
