My frustration grows

Bio says Ft. Wayne, IN.

My question is, “What store?”

I found them at Menards here in Michigan for the same price.

Not sure it’s the same ones, but they are 15 cents each.

Just to share, after some frustration with TIO2, I get good results with gray spray “chalk effect paint” primer and matte enamel. 2 cross coats.

Menards a Local hardware store.

I recognize the name. There was one close to where I used to live in KY. Unfortunately there are none south of the Mason-Dixon line, and I live in FL.

Home Depot sells a similar product for 13 cents/tile.
Daltile Restore Bright White 4-1/4 in. x 4-1/4 in. Ceramic Wall Tile (0.125 sq. ft./ Each) RE1544HD1P4 - The Home Depot

I looked online and Lowes has tiles for a dollar something.
Home Depot has the following…

OK, So I think I know more that I blatantly have shown on this post. After seeing parsec’s post, I have created the following.

I will post the results after running.
BTW I copied the interval of 0.080 in his example.

Tile store has them for that price too. I prefer the Minards price.

Should anyone like a copy of my tile test engraving file, here it is.
4in Tile Engraving Fill Test.lbrn2 (189.5 KB)
Edit as needed for your own laser. Mine is a 4.2 J-Tech.

As promised the results of my Fill Engrave test file.

It appears the 400 mm/m at 100 power has the better result to me.

Most of us just use the materials test in the laser tools window…

What values do you have for the text, it looks clean, crisp and black?

:smile_cat:

I created this from scratch. I did not use the laser tools in Lightburn.
This text/Font is “MS Shell Dig II”.

I assumed the settings for the text was different since it’s clearly a darker black than anything else.

I think it looked better than any of the squares…

Is there some reason you do these manually?

:smile_cat:

I uploaded the file you can find the settings there.
As far as doing it manually, “PRACTICE”
I learn better by doing rather than having software doing it for me.

To achieve a solid black burn on your white painted tile, try these tips:

1.Adjust Power/Speed: Increase power or decrease speed for a darker burn.
2.Check Focus: Ensure your laser is properly focused.
3.Prep Tile: Make sure the paint is evenly applied.
4.Use Threshold Mode: This helps with solid black areas.
5.Multiple Passes: Use lower power with multiple passes.
6.Experiment with DPI/Scan Angle: Adjust settings for better results.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips.
