My Laser isnt firing

I dont know why but my laser just turned off while cutting something. But only the Laser, the maschine was still moving. Need help to fix the problem.

In the absence of any other information, I’d say your laser diode just died.

More information would be helpful:

  • Can you fire the laser manually?
  • Does it light up while framing?
  • How old is it?
  • Did you normally run at high power during long jobs?

I bought it like 3 months ago…
yeah if I press the fire button it will fire the laser

Yeah I was cutting a lot so I had high power but i dont think that the high power would kill my laser…

pls help…
what can I do if my laser diode really died?

That means the laser diode isn’t dead, which is a good sign.

Unfortunately, that’s incorrect. The lifetime depends on temperature, which depends on power: running high power for long jobs tends to shorten the diode’s life. Given that low-end desktop diode laser machines are optimized for low price, rather than long life, you can chew through the diode’s expected lifetime in short order.

So far, I understand that you can fire the diode manually.

Can the laser run a simple job, perhaps outline a 10 mm square at half power?

If that works, can it engrave a 10 mm square?

If the laser does not turn on for either of those, then something seems amiss with either the layer parameters or controller’s configuration.

How true…

I have to mention that I’ve struggled with this on my fiber. It’s pump diodes seem to be commonly run at 100%.

Some of these people have had fiber lasers for almost a decade and claim they run them mostly at 100%…

However, I don’t feel OK with this… I don’t run my car at 100% either…

I know from a pure engineering perspective, you don’t expect equipment to be run continuously at 100%

Maybe we’re just getting old and things change, we can’t or won’t … I’ve been running it at up to 95%, not anything like the 80% upper limit for the co2.

:smiley_cat:

Nah, even if I do 100% with slow movement it wont engrave any sh*t. It seems like I only have a laser pointer now😂

check your lens, it just might need a little cleaning.
