My laser won’t burn, my laser stays in the X axis, and my X & Y axis’ won’t go back to the left bottom corner. Why?

Hello.
I have a Ortur: Master 2 and I’m using LightBurn 1.7 as my format. I purchased my Ortur 3 years ago but never used it because I’m not computer savvy. I do a lot of woodworking, mostly flags and I have outsourced a company to make my laser engravings / cutouts. So to cut costs, I figured it’s about time I learn how to use this software and laser engraver.

Last night I engraved an image on a piece of Dpi tempered panel to test everything out. It came out fantastic. After that, I switched to quarter inch basswood plywood. I looked up the settings for plywood and made the adjustments. I’m running (in/mm/min) in my settings.

I went to the menu for material testing and everything worked fine when it’s engraving a test chart. However, when I insert an image, three things occurred.

  1. my Ortur machine only moves on X axis, back and forth. Never in a Y axis.

  2. the blue laser light is on but there is no laser cutting or engraving.

  3. I also can’t seem to calibrate my x and y axis’ to my home starting point (left bottom corner).

Again, this only happens with imported images and fonts. Testing it appears to be fine. I watched the videos you provide and went on Google to ask how things are done and the issues still persist. What am I doing wrong and how do I correct these issues to ensure I can make the best quality items for my customers?

Thank you so much for your time and help.

Sincerely

Donald J Bozzi

Provide a screenshot of the full LightBurn window. This might help to detect incorrect settings.
The first thing that came to my mind is that you somehow enabled rotary mode with another rotary axis than y, as such, the y-axis won’t move anymore.
