Really nice work…on both of them, but this one must be cool with lights n smoke going.
Flat ply, then steam loco…mind bending!
That’s awsome.
Now I believe you that they’re laser cut. Really nice work! Makes me want to try this but I already have enough projects in the queue that I’ll never get to.
WOW That looks Great
If you have designed from scratch I am wordless.
If not it’s just a very, very awesome job!!!
I try to upload the file
BR92 T13.lbrn2 (2.7 MB)
I add some photos to make the construction easier.
the motor I used is a JGY370 double shaft 110 rpm 12v reducer.
you need to cut the axles on the lathe to adapt them to the width of the locomotive, if you build it static there are no problems.
Very nice Chris. You would have gotten along really well with my father. He built numerous HO scale train tracks as well as he used to build the engines and cars from kits. I have one that is almost solid brass that he built in the 40’s. His last track had four separate tracks and he computerized it to handle four trains per track. Each engine had to be modified to do this and he did all of the programming from scratch.
Very NICE job looks to be a G scale train? If you don’t have a lathe could you buy modle train wheels and make them work?
I have a lathe but making wheels is complex.
for locomotives I just make brass rings then I make the inside out of wood
on the lathe I made some solid wheels for motorized wagons.
My congrats to you on you fine work. I saw where someone ask if that g-scale.
I missed your answer but I feel that it is g-scale. one of my hobbies is ho-scale
trains. I never built any cars because I was working on layout and scenery.
About 10 years ago my wife said that she wanted the downstairs back. And about the same time two of my grandsons wanted some trains of their own. Funny how my wife and grandsons came up with the same idea at the same time. So I took everything down and hauled it Stillwater, Ok. and set it up in their
garage. I sure do miss playing with mt trains !!!
locomotive is in 1 scale 1:32
It has the same gauge as the G scale 45mm but if I’m not mistaken the G is 1:22.5
That is like the train, (blue & pink) above, it runs on ho track, but it’s bigger than an ho train. Here are 4 pis of the only train engine I have left. This is an 80 ton shay. They were used for hauling logs down the mountain at a slow speed. Even slower going uphill. Here are 4 pics of the train and in the first pic you see that an external crankshaft and drive shaft run the full length of the engine so that every wheel is a drive wheel. When unboxing the engine a few minutes ago
the drive shaft slipped out of socket between the coal car and the water tank. No big deal ! The next four pis show closeup of the crank and drive shaft. Looking at the invoice, my wife bought this engine for me in 03-22-06. Wow, two more years this engine will be 20 years old. How time flies !!! Cost then was 200 bucks. I just now went to Walthers and todays shays are 400 & 500 bucks each. Those two grandboys of mine about cried when I told them NO you don’t get that engine !!!
WOW, absolutely blown away with this.its awesome
thank you joe and travis.
great job !!!
Absolutely Fantastic Great Job
