Hi everyone! I just signed up and I have a question. i’ve been using my ts2 20W for about a month now and have ghad some issues but so far have overcome them. the day before yesterday, the machine makes a horrible grinding noise when homing to front left. is this a machine problem or a software problem? please help
Is it fine until it gets to the corner, then grinds for a bit? That would most likely be a problem with a faulty limit switch or wiring. If it’s a different behavior, explain it better and we can try some more.
Hello. how do I check limit switches to see if theyre faulty? all my wiring is connected without obstructions
The way I check them is first disable auto home on startup. Move the laser head slowly to the middle of the work bed. Power on the laser and make sure it’s connected to Lightburn. Locate the limit switches on your machine and click the home button in the Move window. When the head starts moving, trigger each limit switch with your finger. Movement in that direction should stop. Be ready to hit the emergency stop switch if it doesn’t stop moving. If it doesn’t stop in one direction, that is the faulty limit switch or switch with a wiring issue.
good information..thank you!
I think I have found the issue. Im using a very small notebook computer to run this machine. im thinking either I dont have enough RAM or my USB ports are bad
It’s not a computer problem. The computer just sends the home command. From there everything is handled by the laser firmware. If it’s not triggering the limit switches what computer it’s connected to doesn’t matter.
Now, if you want to buy a new computer, go for it but don’t expect that to solve your homing issue.
