I have reset all preferences and re downloaded the we creat Grbl settings. I have calibrated the camera twice. I’m at wits end was working fine 2 days ago.
So I have kind of figured it out. My pointer offset needed to be changed. But why did they need changed. I made no changes in settings between the engravings I was doing. What could have changed the pointer offset? It worked for one engraving, then was off for the second in the same session. It seems fine now that I changed the pointer offset but it way different than the we creat file presets. Which I had been using for months up to that point
A rule of thumb seems to be we can never determine “what caused this”, but we’re pretty good at figuring out how to fix up whatever’s wrong.
One fairly consistent observation, though: “what caused this” can be explained by an inadvertent mouse click of the sort everybody makes while doing something entirely unrelated. 
Maybe the laser pointer slipped in the mounting?
I will have to look and see when I clean it next. I was doing a long run of engraving may have gotten hot and moved
