I’m trying to figure out how to control when layers/groups get printed. In particular my logo is being printed one group after another and therefore there is “enormous” whitespace waste. I know I can adjust the whitespace jog, but it would be so much faster if it would print it raster-wise one line at a time. I’ve tried welding the groups, but it changes what’s engraved vs skipped. I’ve tried grouping everything as one group. I’m guessing I need to somehow “flatten” the layers. What’s the best way? I’ve attached an image demonstrating how it takes multiple full passes.
I think you answered your own question. To “flatten” the layers, and you are using raster scanning, just select each image object and click on the same color, like Blue, at the bottom of the screen. Then Lightburn will see it as a single image.
You can control the order, grouping and way the fill is produced. In this case, have a look at ‘Fill all shapes at once’ in the ‘Cut Settings Editor’ window.
I don’t know what your intent is with the separate layers, but I’ve struggled with this myself. I wanted to use the layers (all set to fill) to control power and, to a lesser extent, speed.
I tried adjusting optimization settings, grouping, layer order, sublayer, etc. every which way I could think of.
The only thing I’ve found that works is to edit and test/tune the design with layers, then copy the file to another I append with “_flattened”. That flattened file I group all the layers separately, then collapse all the layers into one with 100% power and use power scale for the different groups to get my shading. I haven’t got a fix for adjusting speed but careful speed and power selection has gotten what I need so far. Optimization is set to order by groups and I group the entire design together.
A side benefit of this is that the preview will correctly shade the job, which it won’t do without using power scale.
This has reduced the time from 35min to 13min with the exact same result. It just scans the item once instead of three or four times.
