Need help getting started engraving and want to pay for someone to get me going

I purchased this laser to try to engrave products that I sell. I have asked a staff member to learn to use it but they have not done that and now I’m on a deadline. i really do want to pay someone to consult and get me up and running.

I need help setting up an engraving job for as many devices as I can fit onto the bed, and I am perfectly capable of making a tigh-tolerance holding jig.

I have drawn the device I need to engrave for spacing purposes and typeset the engraving, but I don’t know what I’m doing yet and need to get to the solution with minimal errors and downtime. my array isn’t setup to the right spacing and now that i know how i am holding the devices i am engraving, it is time to get serious about the setup.

the file is here: Synology Drive

my device is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C9BZS3PX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have a licensed copy of Light Burn.

i can be reached here and will share telephone or email when appropriate.

Are you trying to engrave metal, plastic or other material?

The forum ethos for Lightburn is to provide help to other members without worrying about recompense. If you need hands on help, you would be best served by also including your LOCATION. In person help would probably be the fastest route to success.

Like @JimNM suggested, the Forum is a fantastic resource. You will likely get your answers before you can get someone there.

I looked at your file, and other than some strange grouping, I do not see why it would not work. Did you use your layout to cut the holder for the items? That would guarantee everything is in the right place, as long as you put the holder (template fixture) back in the same place.

Also, be sure you follow federal regulations on marking and handling this product.

Thank you, I will do that. i just don’t have the time to spare, so I will have to slow the pace and learn it myself. I’ve run everything from CNC routers to flatbed UV printers, so the concepts aren’t difficult. I just needed a jump start.

Thank you - the grouping was just a guess while i was drafting and before i knew what I would nest the products in. I will take the suggestion to draw the holder onto the foundation with the laser and then use it to guide my holding template setup. It looks like the forum is going to be what I use when/if I ever have the time to spare to learn this and get it going.

I’m going to go for just doing one at a time until I get the details sorted out and then I will work to build a holding jig and setup the file for multiples.

One of my concerns with my drawing is that i don’t know how to set one layer for burning and another for visually representing the item i am engraving. I will have to read up on it and see where I can go.

Look in your cuts/layers window - you can turn each layer to no output and to not show on the work space. The right most two layers are TOOL layers - those will never out put.

This image I have turned Black to NO OUTPUT - show by the faded color on the workspace.

T1 and T2 are tool layers only - no laser from those layers.
