Hi! I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what I’m doing wrong when exporting an SVG from LightBurn to illustrator.
I’m hoping to sell my laser cutting files one day and want to make sure I have them saved properly (saving them as an SVG)
I’ve changed the export settings to 72 DPI - Illustrator in Lightburn
I open the SVG file in illustrator and the size is different by a little bit.
Export from illustrator and save as an SVG file and then import into Lightburn again and the size isn’t the same as the original LightBurn svg file.
I’m hoping this is a quick fix and I’m just missing something. I’ve made sure responsive is not clicked off in illustrator when I export but because the size is immediately different when I import into illustrator I’m thinking that I’m doing something wrong there?
Note that the setting affects import, not export of SVG. I believe all exports with SVG will be done at 96 DPI which is likely why you’re seeing this issue.
When going LightBurn->Illustrator I’d suggest export to an .AI file in LightBurn instead of SVG.
This is a little unusual as this should work if you are configured for 72 DPI in the import settings.
You may want to try transferring vi .AI file to see if this goes better.
If you look at the size differences between Lightburn and Illustrator, it is only different by 0.0001". That is normal in a translation from one system to another. Essentially, they are the same size in LB and AI.
