Need help with odd shape on font when cut out

Hi can someone help a new user to lightburn, using trail before i buy but keep getting this odd cut on letter T on all fonts, doesn’t matter what font i use. I haven’t tried any other letters bar A and H because only learning but haven’t had any other problems(well so far, fingers crossed) those two letters only on the T, so before i buy the full version can i remedy this problem please and thanks.

It certainly looks like mechanical backlash on both axes, rather than anything more complex. Have you done anything else with the machine other than those few letters to verify its operation?

Checking all the mechanical joints between the motors and the laser head will probably resolve the issue:

That’s written for Sculpfun lasers, but you’ll recognize most of the parts. The key is to suspect everything and assume nothing is correctly adjusted.

Thanks ednisley for the reply, that article was very informative. i got some result last night, a lot better i’d say, so i will go at it again later on. thanks again and no i haven’t done much with the laser i only have it since Monday. Here is my latest result, its still not great. :upside_down_face:

Perhaps there’s one more loose screw to find and fix.

Here’s a useful test pattern:

Run that (pay attention to the note when you load it) and see if all the corners & lines match up the way they should. If not, back to the search!

Success ednisely, thank you so much that problem had racking my brain the last few days. The top rail was a bit tight and i had to adjust the wheels on both side rails, i was getting little notch movements on the righthand side mainly so i done screw adjustments and then resets the belts. i will try that pattern over the next day or two thanks and again thanks for your help, much appreciated. :relieved:

The optimistic view: you are now much more familiar with your laser hardware and know where to look the next time it misbehaves!
