We have a 100w red/black laser. It has a Ruida controller on it. I have read the help docs over and over to figure this out but still no luck. For some reason, every project that runs moves during the project. We are working on a clock template and was able to complete 3 with no issues until we created another project and changed the optimization settings. We went back into our clock template, made no changes to the numbers or spacing, and started having problems. We fixed the optimization settings but had to eliminate our cut priority and groupings to get it back to engraving how we want. But, we are still having an issue with the laser moving at a diagonal and dropping the next piece lower than it should be. The clock numbers this past job are exactly where we want them to be, but the center circle drops lower than it shows on screen. It should be middle of the 3 but is towards the bottom half of the 3 when the project is done. Currently, we have the job starting at absolute origin (top right) and it goes 1, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8… and finishes at 2. From 2, it makes a diagonal line to the center circle and the circle is lower than the software shows. Before we made changes to our groupings/priority, it was engraving 6 & 12, then 7&11, 8,9,10 then diagonal line to 5, then 1, then 4,3,2. We ran 3 projects and the numbers and center circle were exactly where they needed to be. After we had to make a template for another project, we noticed that the laser would fire the 5 lower than the 7 and it would end up not in line. Can someone please help us understand the starting point/origin set up better?
I wasn’t able to discern from the description but are you ultimately saying that what gets engraved in the actual output from a position perspective does not match the design in LightBurn? A photo might be useful here.
If so, you’re chasing the wrong lead looking at Optimization Settings. Nothing in Optimization Settings should change the actual design in terms of object placement. It will only affect the path the laser head takes to achieve the said design.
Having said that, can you more specifically describe the artifact that you’re seeing in the output? Then someone may be able to help with root cause. Again, a picture would be useful.
Some additional background questions:
- Is this a new laser setup?
- Are you experiencing problems with other designs?
- Can you send a view of your machine settings?
