Often I’m cutting letters rather than engraving them. Stencils are vital for cutting else the islands in the middle of letters (the inside circle of an O, the triangle in A, and so on) fall away. Yet Lightburn has only one stencil font, and it’s not a useful one.
I’m asking A) is there a way to import fonts and B) does anyone know, for surely makers have needed this before, of some good stencil fonts?
For regular fonts the way you “import” them into LightBurn is to just install them on your operating system and LightBurn will pick those up.
Unfortunately TTF and OTF fonts are often not great for stencils and that’s why the next version of LightBurn (release TBD but likely soon) will support SHX fonts. This will need to be directly imported into LightBurn and are actually an old CNC format but there are thousands of free ones available online and many single-line and stencil font options to be found.
