I’m getting sent down the rabbit hole trying to find out how to make a ruler. All I get is how to use rulers and grids. Is there a way I can create a ruler with metric and imperial, so I can cut it out and it will be accurate?
The general workflow would be to create the rectangle representing the size of the ruler. Place an appropriate index at one end, ideally at the correct amount from the end, i.e., one millimeter inside the rectangle. Select that index line and use the rectangular array to create the necessary amount of copies with the desired spacing.
You could also place the primary indices, i.e., one centimeter first, then fill in the shorter ones. To avoid duplicates, place the secondary ones on a separate layer, “un-show” the primaries and delete the overlapping secondaries.
Repeat on the opposite side of the rectangle for the imperial version.
The docs have one:
I found this video which shows me how to do it in metric. https://youtu.be/fQC_lTJCLbo How do I do it in imperial. I can see what this guy does in the array tool, but he has his system set up to metric. I want to make a rule with one side metric and one side imperial. Would I have to change the working settings out of metric to imperial to draw an imperial ruler? Or, do I draw the ruler in metric and import the file into the imperial LB session/file?
I am starting to get confused and I am not seeing a templet in the ones that Parsec attached.
Thoughts?
I may have answered my own question. I didn’t realize there was a search bar. Here is a ruler generator that outputs as an .svg file. I will let you know what it looks like.
Not sure what is wrong here. Sorry I can’t edit my posts…if too much time you can’t edit.
The .svg generator gives me a ruler file, but if yo import it into LB, I can see it or it doesn’t give me a layer. really confused now. Sorry, can’t upload it for you to see it.
Sorry, I’m on my cell phone and it’s kind of hard to navigate this forum. Did you generate that off one of the links that I sent you? If so, which one?
Thanks.
You pointed to the same site as the Docs. Vector Ruler SVG Generator
Was what I used to make the ruler.
Found here a better generator from a forum member:
