Neje master 2 laser not working

Hello. I am new to lightburn and to laser engraving in general but i am trying to get my laser to work. Currently it is hooked up and the laser says connected. The speed is correct and the laser low power is on but it will not engrave. In the console menu is says “unknown m4” and " unknown m8". I tried reading other forums but am having no luck. I have the power turned up too 100 and my focus is correct because it works with the Neje software. I am not sure if this is related but if i go into device settings it says “controller not connected”. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks

Check what device profile is being used. You’d want “GRBL” to be your profile. Push Devices button in Laser window, then click once on the name of your laser. Please take a screenshot.

here is what comes up

Edit the Device and switch to “GRBL” rather than “GRBL-M3”. You can leave the other configuration the same as long as they’re already correct.

Then retest.

So when i click on just grbl it switches it too grbl-m3 on 2 out of my 3 options. If i choose the one that doesnt my laser goes completely wack.

I’m not following this. What options are you talking about?

Can you provide a screenshot?

Normally you should be able to:

  1. Select your device
  2. Push Edit
  3. Change to “GRBL”
  4. Push next to get through rest of Wizard

When i do that and i click on grbl it name itself as grbl-m3

It will by default retain the last name used. Simply rename this to whatever you like.

Okay sounds good. I tried it again and same thing. Everything seems to work fine except the laser doesnt reach my set power. Only stays in low power

Do you still get M4 and M8 warning in Console?

Please provide the following:

  1. Run in Console and return output:
$I
$$
  1. screenshot of Edit->Device Settings

Yes i still get the warnings

You listed GRBL as your controller type on your profile but you are using Benbox. Is this for Neje Master 2?

You need to convert to GRBL if you want to use LightBurn on your machine.

Maybe that is my problem is there a link on how to convert it or is it fairly simple to explain?

Not certain but check out this page:
