Hi, does anyone know if it is necessary to run an A40640 with the pwm/temp board. I ask this as mine has stopped functioning and i am running with out it. Did not know how to use it when it was working so not to have it was not a big deal for me.

The only use for the interface board is to handle a larger power supply than most of these controllers can handle.
I have the previous version, 40630 that is on my JL1.
As long as you can get enough power to it, the pwm signal is pretty standardized on these, it controls the laser.
