New 20w longer unresponsive

Been using 10w ray5 for a year so I have a fair knowledge of lightburn & longer. Just assembled a 20w ray 5 (with stops), configured the parameters in lightburn but nothing works. Sometimes I can get it to FIRE And though I have it set on user origin if it does anything at all it goes to left bottom position. Also, sometimes there is an error message CAUTION UNLOCKED, whateer that means. I’ve read I might have to update firmware but do I have to? And if I do where do I go for it. Any help is appreciated.

Hi @gts

If you’re using User Origin, move (jog) the laser head to the point you want to use as the job start position, then click Set Origin in the Move window before framing or starting the job.

If the machine has limit switches, it will home first (as you say “it goes to left bottom position.”) and uses that as its reference, so this is likely a setup/origin issue rather than a firmware one. Rather than using user origin, consider using absolute coords now that you have the limit stops.

As for Caution: Unlocked, that usually just means the controller has been unlocked after being in an alarm or locked state.

I wouldn’t update the firmware just yet.
