Managed to smash the end off my laser tube which isn’t a good start to the year. The tube I have is a cl1200 60w and was wondering if one of the omtech tubes would fit. It’s not as long so don’t know what the issues would come of it.
It is probably “only” a 50(55)Watt tube from OMT, measure the diameter and length of your original tube and buy a tube with those measurements, then you will get real 60Watt and it will fit your power supply.
Basically, the optical power depends on how much gas gets excited: the size of the tube determines the power output.
If the new tube has the same diameter as the old one, you can drop it right into the same supports. If it’s different, then you’re looking at a tedious rebuild / realignment task.
Both @bernd.dk and @ednisley are correct. I had an 880mm tube in my original China Blue and it produced only 43W out.
I replaced it with a tube from Light Object, in the Pacific NW, that is 1000mm in length and produces 50W at 13mA. Had to 3d print an extension cover (red).
I can get an identical one from the company who I bought it off years ago. They don’t do delivery and They are around £400-£500. Didn’t know if I could find the same but a cheaper price
Cloudray sells a LT07MCR70 for 260 pounds, although it is a bit longer and more powerful, it is an interesting alternative.
Their CR50 costs 100 pounds more than the CR70
