New camera for lightburn

When I go to calibrate my camera, I see 2 different types of cameras as options. One says in beta testing. When will that beta tested camera come out? I am tired of having to calibrate my camera every time I use my laser machine. It’s very annoying and the beta has to be a better camera, I’m guessing. In case you’re wondering, my current camera was bought through Lightburn

Why are you having to calibrate your camera every time? And are you referring to Lens calibration or Camera Alignment? Or both?

There’s no reason you should have to need to recalibrate every time.

camera alignment. And for the most part, yes I have found that pretty much every time I use my laser, it needs to be aligned. For a while I was not having that problem, just lately

Are you absolutely certain that your camera is in a static relationship with the frame of your laser mechanism? There can be no shifting of any kind of this is to work reliably.

What types of issues are you seeing that’s prompting you to realign?

what is on my screen does not align with what is on my “update overlay” Depending on the day, could be off by 1/4"-1/2" I will have to check to see if something is snagging the camera wire. Very frustrating. I wish they had a camera more like the one in the Glowforge and the one in the beat testing looks like it is

You mean a head mounted camera? From everything I’ve seen those seem less convenient and potentially more error prone since a bunch of separate images need to be stitched together. The potential for issues doesn’t go away with that approach, just shifts it to other types of problems.

The good news is that there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to work out the kinks with your current camera. As an example, I’ve only ever had the alignment go sideways one time and it was something I caused because I wanted to make the tiniest of adjustments to how the camera was mounted. Even tiny shifts can result in a large alignment issue so that’s a drawback. But outside of that I have had no issues with alignment. Position is roughly within a millimeter of placement for most of the bed.

Good to know about that camera. yeah, it’s been pretty accurate up until recently. I’ll keep at it. The cord has to be snagging on something when I open and close the lid. Thx
