New Control Board

I have just received a new control board for my Chinese Diode Laser Engraver, and have encountered a few problems with it and Lightburn. Firstly when I jog the laser, the interval was set to 10mm, but it jogs 100mm…I had to set it to 1 to get it more controllable. It will not fire the laser when I do a %power test nor when I do a print. I am sure there may be a few more ‘problems’ but these are the first that I have found. I have copied my $$ settings below. I changed $32 to 1 and that worked Ok, my version of GRBL is 1.1f. Is there anything blatantly obvious that that I should change.
Many thanks in anticipation

$0=10 $1=25 $2=0 $3=2 $4=0 $5=0 $6=0 $10=1 $11=0.010 $12=0.002 $13=0 $20=0 $21=0 $22=0 $23=0 $24=25.000 $25=500.000 $26=250 $27=1.000 $30=1000 $31=0 $32=1 $100=800.000 $101=800.000 $102=800.000 $110=1000.000 $111=1000.000 $112=600.000 $120=30.000 $121=30.000 $122=30.000 $130=200.000 $131=200.000 $132=200.000 ok

If it’s moving 100mm instead of 10mm, these values should be reduced by 10x (80 instead of 800).

Many thanks for the reply… I should have put my older board settings on here as well as the newer board settings. See below

$0=10 $1=254 $2=0 $3=1 $4=0 $5=0 $6=0 $10=1 $11=0.010 $12=0.002 $13=0 $20=0 $21=0 $22=0 $23=0 $24=25.000 $25=500.000 $26=250 $27=1.000 $30=1000 $31=0 $32=1 $100=50.000 $101=50.000 $102=800.000 $110=5000.000 $111=5000.000 $112=500.000 $120=1500.000 $121=1500.000 $122=200.000 $130=2000.000 $131=2000.000 $132=200.000 ok

Your older board used 50, not 80, so you likely need to use that. You should also set $3 to match the old board, and $1=255 to keep your motors locked in place when not moving, and I could copy the old values from the old board to the new one from $100 and up - those are step size, speed, acceleration, and travel length values, and you’ll probably want them all to match, assuming they were right on the old system.

Many thanks…I will do that…my main concern is that for some reason the laser isn’t firing. I am powering the board with a 12v 5a psu, but the recommended supply is 24v 5a but that is primarily for the spindle which I am not using. I would have thought that even at 12v it would have fired albeit with lower power, but I get nothing. It is as if the command (whatever that may be) is not getting through

I have changed all of the settings as above, and as far as that is concerned all seems fine, the only problem I have now is the laser is not firing :slightly_frowning_face:

If you aren’t using the recommended voltage supply that could easily be it. Worth asking whoever makes it if it can work at lower voltages.

Hi, I have resolved the ‘issue’ in true Chinese fashion the Gnd and PWM connectors on the board were reversed compared to the cable. I had to swap the connectors round in the plug and now the laser is firing.
Many thanks for your help and input

I thoght that I had everything sorted, but, I created a 100mm x 100mm square to line up the laser head, but it is only engraves 50% ie it engraves a square 50mm x 50mm not the full size. Both the device settings and main screen settings are set at 100mm x 100mm. I have tried a couple of the GRBL settings but to no avail. Could anyone pse assist.
Many thanks in advance

Read here: How are steps calibrated?

Many thanks, I read that… and it is steps/mm. I set the settings for $100/101 to 97 instead of 50 and that gives me, as near as I can, the 100mm square that I needed.
Your help is greatly appreciated
