I recently setup an Omtech 50w fiber. I am now trying to figure out settings.
When I run the square test to figure out focal distance:
on slate I get the bright white flash and noise … but when I do this on metal, there is no white or noise. It remains red when I adjust focal distance.
I am using lightburn. I am trying the different settings I see on line in vids or tutorials.
I THINK the lens on this is bigger (420mm) than what I have seen in tutorials. Am very new to these types of lens so I do not know what lens is good for what. Mainly I want to do smaller items like jewelry and ornaments.
Lastly, everything is backwards and upside down. How do I correct this?
When you say it remains red, that likely means the laser isn’t firing, just the framing red dot
Make sure you have continuous set in the framing dialogue when dialing in the initial focus. 420mm sounds kinda out there with focal length too. Do you have a pic of the lense?
That is what I assumed re the red. I was running, not just framing.
At some point though it started working … at least on some of the metals (aluminum and brass) But when I try to engrave on copper it is doing the same thing. IMAGE 1: slate IMAGE2: aluminum card (would not fire for quite a while) IMAGE3: Lens
