New GP20 Galvo is distorting square and rectangle shapes

Hello All,

A have been using Lightburn with my Ortur diode laser and couldn’t be happier but I decided to get into Fiber Laser so I can engrave metal and industrial parts.

I received my GP20 last week and have been trying to get up to speed. The problem I am seeing is that the laser is adding curves to the engraving. The curves are more noticeable when I add square or rectangle shapes. See attached the picture showing two similar jobs, the one on the right done with the diode looks correct and straight while the one on the left done by the GP20 is curving the rectangle and letters resulting into poor quality.

Has anyone seen this issue? Would you know how to fix it or is it a hardware defect?

Thanks for your help!

You’ll need to calibrate the lens. Check this video out.

Thanks, I believe the calibration helped. I am going to run more tests.

Did you find the markrcfg file in the USB stick supplied with your machine? On my machine installing with this file I didn’t need to use the cor file for the lens the adjustment values were already there along with the laser settings.

I think it’s the markcfg7 file, at least on mine it was.

Deja vu … haven’t we been here before…?

:smile_cat:

Using the calibration feature did the job. My boxes lines are straight now. Thanks.
