Here is how I do my pockets to get rid of these types of layer lines (I know this is the outside, I don’t have an internal one to photograph)
- Cut the pocket to Xmm deep and leave 1.0 mm of material
- Profile the pocket to the same depth in one pass on the inside of the line
The problem I ran into today was that the original pocket was 12mm so the profile was also 12mm. I then changed the pocket to 10mm and forgot to change the profile depth so it cut the extra 1mm around the edge and an extra 2mm deep.
Can you add a new Outline pass, it would allow you to set the last pass thickness. The tool path operation would be:
- Cut the depth per pass back and forth
- It would leave the width of the Last pass thickness
- It would cut each layer the Depth per pass until it reached the Final depth
- It would then do a single pass at the Final depth cutting away the Last pass thickness
This is not the same as the option Outline pass of After that option does the profile cut after every layer.
After option:
- Cut layer depth
- Outline cut
- Cut layer depth
- Outline cut
- Do layer then outline until Final depth is reached
- Stop
Last pass option:
- Cut layer depth Xmm smaller
- Cut layer depth Xmm smaller
- Keep cutting each layer until Final depth is reached
- Cut a single outline pass at the Final depth
- Stop
