New Sainsmart 3018 Prover started to chirp

Hi All,

I am using a Sainsmart 3018 Prover. Got it new a few weeks ago. (wore out the first one - LOL)

Yesterday it started to “chirp” and seemed to be skipping. While looking at the travel bar ( a technical term, I’m sure ) it came off the right side stepper motor.

I cleaned it, loosened the set screws, reseated it and tightened the set screws.
It was fine for part of the 1st job I ran and then started chirping again.
Travel bar is still seated tightly.

What else should I be looking for?

These things make all kinds of weird noises. Be nice to have a video?

Some things to consider:

  1. happen the same place in the shaft rotation?
  2. is it once per rotation?
  3. across the complete axes or right, left side, center?
  4. can you cause it by hand, turning the shaft? Can you feel it when you do so?
  5. is it lubricated?
  6. could it be a stepper motor? Remove the shaft and see if it chirps

By the ‘Travel bar’ I assume you mean the X axis support as the table travels also. :slight_smile:
