I recently bought a Mecpow. It is very easy to work when using Lightburn. However out of no where I am getting annoying problems, when I engrave a text, it doesn’t finish the bottom part.
If that’s where the job starts, then it’s almost certainly due to mechanical backlash: the laser head does not start moving until the motors have turned for a while.
Although this guide is written for Sculpfun lasers, you’ll recognize most of the parts and should follow all the steps:
Pay particular attention to the belts, as they seem to be a common source of backlash; the anchors must be firmly attached so the belts maintain the proper tension.
In gnarly cases, folks disassembled the entire machine and put it back together again, generally finding a loose screw or stripped socket put there on the factory’s assembly lIne.
Assume nothing and you will not be disappointed!
The issue was resolved by changing the style of date. I used “8 May 2024” and no matter where I placed in the work area the first line was still there. I changed it to “May 8, 2024” and it fixed the issue.
I have cleaned the laser thoroughly and still get random missed lines. Yes, always the bottom. My next step is to try the shorter cable.
