Just got omtech 130w laser from a friend but did not get the laptop he was using with it . Purchased a new Lenovo laptop and Lightburn software but it is not connecting to the controller followed the wizard but does not find it any suggestions greatly appreciated . have tried thru ethernet and usb and added ip address .
Welcome to the world of lasers. I’m sure that you’ll love working with your new machine. A few quick points to check:
- Does the laser work properly through the machine’s control panel?
- Do you have the correct version of Lightburn? You will need the DSP version.
- If you are using a USB connection are you running it through a powered USB Hub? Is the cable a long run (>10’)?
After the fact but Lightburn gives you 30 days to try it. I suspect you got the wrong version.
Thanks for the replies . looking back at my receipt it was gcode +dsp key.
The cable is about 5ft and when i use the ethernet port i can see it come on at the control panel . I can move the laser with controller and performed test cuts with patterns stored on the machine .
Wizard is for USB only. It wont find an ethernet connection sadly. You have to manually add the machine via your network and assign it an IP address.
I’d suggest a normal Ethernet connection via your lan. You will have to change the IP of the Ruida, but Ethernet is stable and doesn’t require the drivers that are such a headache.
If you are plugging this into your computer directly, you will have to modify the port you are using… Unless you know about networking, this can be a hassle.
I suggest you use Ethernet on your lan, you’ll have enough problems just using it, so keep it simple.
