New to laser engraving, my laser isnt framing correctly

hey guys, im new to laser engraving i have a longer ray 5 5.5w laser ive been enjoying it a lot. i do have one issue that’s reoccurring im not sure what to do to fix it. heres what happening ill place my image dead center in light burn I save the file to my sd card i go pop into my ray 5 select the file and hit frame, well it frames but in a different location than where the image is and when i hit engrave it goes to the location of where the image actually is. this occurs with user origin, current poistion and absolute coords. so how do i fix this?

I’m not sure how this would even happen with user origin or current position. There’s nothing in the g-code that would have awareness of workplace position.

are you sure the laser isn’t just defaulting to center position when used offline?

If you were to place the design to one of the corners, does the burn follow the placement?

Are you by chance using inches for your units? If so, can you switch to millimeters and try again?

how i would check if its defaulting to center position when used offline? for corner placement i would have to check and yes im using inches ill try MM

This is what I meant by putting the design into a corner. It may only appear to be going to the original placement location because that’s where the laser always goes.

ohhh okay ill try it

putting the image in the corner helped a bit its still a smidge off when it frames, i ran another test to where the image was in the middle with absolute cord it frames the bottom left corner and than goes to the middle to burn.

Is this with units set to mm?

yes, it is

Does this happen with the files provided by Longer?

no it doesnt those are on point.

Can you make copies of the gcode, one from Longer and one that you generate, change the extension to .txt and upload here for review? The simpler the gcode the better.

one problem with that is i dont have the longer files anymore 2 days into using it some how my SDcard got corrupted and i had to fromat it

No worries. There are some other Longer users on this forum. Hopefully they can pitch-in and help sort this out for you.
