Can not get the new version 1.2.03
to run after downloading, giving fault that it is unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted. Error 5 access denied
You likely have LightBurn still running. Make sure it’s closed, and if it is, check your Windows Task Manager to make sure there isn’t one running as a ‘ghost’ in the background. If all of that checks out and it sill won’t install, try rebooting.
Does it say what file it won’t execute?
I have tried all that.
It gets that when I try to run the download from Lightburn and that is all it tells me. I have downloaded it 3 times just to see if it was a corrupt download
What is the name of the file that it’s telling you is locked? Can you show a screen shot or picture of the error you’re getting? If the error is related to the LBThumbNailPreview tool, you’re able to just skip past it.
I have never seen that before. Are you running on a system with restricted access or anything, like a work computer, perhaps? I can’t think of any reason you’d be getting that error.
What happens if you copy the file into your ‘Downloads’ folder and then run it from there?
I tried it first in download folder moved it to the other drive with same results. no this is a personal computer and have done numerous updates like this from Lightburn. I will try tomorrow on the computer hooked to Lazer in my shop
Honestly I think Microsoft did stuff again as I am having the same problem with certain things in directories! Sometimes I can right click and run as administrator and it works…even though I AM administrator I still have to do that.
Michael makes a good point - what happens if you right-click the LightBurn installer and choose “run as administrator”?
I tried running as administrator and still get same issue
It installed on other computer in shop with no issues. It must be the last Windows update in my desktop. It did just update a few days ago. So what can be done to fix issue.
You could try and rollback and see if you can install BEFORE the update was installed and then install the update after…Update and Security → Recovery - then select a previous point before the update was installed. After reboot try installing lightburn again.
There are a couple of specialized Windows tools called Sysinternals. You could try to use procmon which allows to monitor FS activity in realtime. See Process Monitor - Windows Sysinternals | Microsoft Learn
Maybe it helps, I’ve not used these tools in quite a while. Godspeed!
