Newbie needing help with laser not firing

I received and set up my Roly MK2 today. All seemed good. Lightburn recognizes the machine, jogging and homing work. I set a test piece in the machine and set the height with the tool.

The machine frames properly, but when I press the Fire button, I don’t see any light. The Roly setup data set the Fire power at 2%. I upped it to 10% and still no light.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I cannot tell from your text, so I have to ask. Did you enable the Fire button in the Device Settings window?

Yes, it was set up that way by the info that cane with the laser.

Does it fire during framing?

It does not fire during framing either

From what I’ve read so far, if the laser doesn’t turn on at all, I would check if the wiring is properly connected/fitted.

I tested the laser this morning and the laser works when engraving, just not when I fire or frame. Lightburn is set to fite the laser and have it on during framing.

This may solve your problem, but it might help understand what the problem is.

  1. In the Console window, turn on the Show All switch. Right-click and select the Clear Console choice.
  2. Make a small square in the workspace, and select it. Speed 500 mm/m and power to 5%. In the Move window, set the Fire button power to .75%.
  3. Click the Frame button, and cancel if you have Continuous Framing turned on.
  4. Click the Run button.
  5. When it finishes, copy and paste the contents of the Console window in a Reply.

Hopefully, the controller, or Lightburn, will tell us why it is not firing while framing.

Turn on Constant Power Mode in the Cuts window and Run it again. Does the laser still turn on?
