Hi Everyone! Very Newbie here - I’m in the process of buying a 10 year old Bodor BCL- 0605MUF.
Just wondering how good these laser cutters are, what should I look out for and what would be a good software to use with it. Core or the Pro.
Thanks

According to this page and the Manual, it comes with a RuiDa controller, which would be well compatible with LightBurn. You’ll need the Pro version of the license to use it.
The page linked above states a 10,000 hr life for the RECI W1 80 watt Tube.
I’d ask the reseller about the usage hours so far. That should be readable from the controller.
Apparently the tube’s gas mixture does not age like fine wine:
Regardless of its power-on hours, that puppy will likely need a new tube and perhaps a high-voltage power supply in the near future, so factor that into the price you’re willing to pay.
That’s great advice thank you very much. I will do exactly that… As far as I know that he hasn’t had a great deal of use.
Okay… Again great advice thank you. I don’t mind paying for a fine wine LOL.
Apparently, it hasn’t had much use. And I feel I’m getting it for a reasonable price at £650.
I do believe the reseller didn’t use light burn pro. He used The beginners/hobbies software in Lightburn.
He’s going to get back to me with some more info Re controller et cetera… Thank you
The Core- and Pro versions of the license key both have the same main features, with the exception that the Core version can only control GCode-based machines.
You do need the Pro version in order to talk to the DSP-based RuiDa controller.
Okey-dokey that’s brilliant. I need to find out what controller it has… I’m just wondering because it’s 10 years old the controller may have been swapped out for something else. The information of the controller do you know where I would find that on the machine or is it on the controller itself?
Inside the electronics bay with the stepper drivers and power supplies. If it’s not obvious, follow the cable from the display / keypad.
With a bit of luck, it’ll have the model number printed on the case, but you may need to peer around the edges to find a tiny sticker.
Amazing Ed….. many thanks!
