Newbie with glossy acrylic troubleshooting settings

Hi,

I’ve been doing loads of small acrylic pieces, a combination of cutting and etching in the same piece without problems, always perfect full engraving, I’ve done something big for the first time and I think I’m being affected by the travel time and the material changing temperature but I’m too new to do anything but stab in the dark,

I started with flood fill (it’s line art) which produced lines everywhere it jumped to a new section, so I turned that off but I still get the lines when the head total travel distance changes (if that makes sense)

No idea what happened at the top, it did start to warp a bit because I was using too much power I think, no idea why it recovered though

Any advice on what settings I can play with is appreciated

10w diode, removed the paper cover for the engraving

Try leaving the paper masking on for engraving. You will probably need to increase power or lower speed.

Hi, I’ll give it a try, I was taking it off for engraving and leaving it on for cutting

So this has helped a lot, plus i’ve done a much lower power/faster speed test and am getting similar quality - 25% with 3000mm/s seems to be working well

Any tips on the warping? I just did another go and it was coming out perfectly, no artefacts at all, then it started warping throwing out the focus

Sorry, no. I haven’t had any warping issues personally.

How thick is your materials? It should not really warp, unless its getting quite warm?

Try double sided tape, attach to some scrap mdf or something else nice and flat. You can also use the little hold down pins,
