No option to fill or cut

Hi all,
Ive made the above logo for myself using individual png components in inkscape and saved as an svg file. Im probably missing something simple but its only comming up as an image with no option to fill or cut in lightburn.
Thanks in advance

Although SVG is a vector format it has the ability to contain embedded raster (image) data. From what you say about this being constructed from PNG elements I’d say this is what’s going on here. You can either trace it in LightBurn, trace it in Inkscape or ideally use the original vector files if they’re available. The text itself around the outside could be easily recreated within LB or Inkscape if you have (or can download) the correct font.

Hope this helps.

I’ve upscaled the image from your post by 4x then traced it in LB (see attached). It’s a bit rough so you might want to perform some node editing on it or you might want to have a go doing the upscaling and tracing yourself. Ideally it’s best if you’ve got the original vectors to work with though.

Hope this helps.

Ah thank you so much you didnt have to do that. Ill give it a go myself too, teach a man to fish etc.

You’re welcome, it only took a minute or two. I thought you might want to have a go at it as well though, as you say “teach a man to fish…”.

One final quick question Marcus and i wont bug you anymore. Its just for curiosity but the ring and the N in the middle the laser goes left to right like its an image but the writing is like each individual letter (like a true svg), just wondering why the difference.
Ive traced myself and its actually quite easy, thanks for that.

You more than likely have ‘Fill shapes individually’ checked under ‘cut settings editor’, if you change this to ‘Fill all shapes at once’ the whole project will engrave left to right

No problem. It looks like @Mooseuk beat me to it! Hope his reply answered your question.

Thanks @Mooseuk & @Marcus_Wakefield
