I have an operation in 0.8 and when trying to preview I get the message below but the operation has output checked
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Have you ‘Assigned’ a shape to this Operation? If not, there is nothing to preview, as no cut paths can be generated without a defined shape.
I do note the wording of that warning could be adjusted for clarity. Will make a report for refinement. 
Yes I have a 100mm x 100mm x 20mm block I was wanting to cut out

hey im no expert but had similar problems press select and see if the square you want to profile lights up , for the want of a better word! if it doesn’t highlight it and add and apply
