No 'Return to start' options

Hi I have watched a few videos showing how to make lightburn return to the start position after it has finished, but I can find the options to do this. My version doesnt show it. 1.5.02
Has this option been removed?

What kind of laser do you have?

Its a 100w co2 Ebay Blue and White. Ruida controller.

DSP machines including the Ruida will not have an option for “Return to finish” position. This can be found on g-code based machines.

Edit → Machine Settings

Right above vendor settings is the return position.

It can be set for absolute, no return or [user] origin.

Thanks for that. So if I run the ‘Frame’ option, it returns to the starting point.
I wonder how easy it would be to implement since it already can do it when it frames.

Occasionally I have a burn where I need to go over a second time. Not being able to find the orginal origin makes this almost impossible.

Ahh Yes that worked. Thank you !!
It would be great if it was implemented as a button on the UI.
Anyhow your tip has got me out of the poo

Are you familiar with the function of the Origin key on the panel? It may be what you’re looking for.

Additionally, if you’re in a situation where you often need to repeat a cut, I’d suggest using Absolute Coords. This provides you with more flexibility.

Isn’t what you did via the GUI in Lightburn? I think that qualifies as a button…yes?

I commonly use origin. I don’t see any need for it to go back to absolute zero or wherever I’ve randomly set it (current position).

On my jigs, I engrave a 0, 0 location for the object that takes into consideration the jig offset. From Lightburn, I move the machine to the specified coordinates, then I set that as my user origin. Then it just moves out of my way…

At this point, start from is set to user origin.

I only use absolute coordinates when I’m making jigs to use in the machine.

In this jig, I’ve set the cutout so the corner of the object (blue tool layer) is at the 80x80 mark and I cut it out with absolute coordinates. Notice the alignment pins on edges. I usually use only a pair of them at a time.

I marked the thread as solved… :+1:

Good luck - have fun
