I have a really weird issue. I can set up a file and cut it just fine. However, if I try to cut again from the same file, it does not start from where it is supposed to, the head moves to some other place. Generally if I have the origin set at the left top of the bed, it moves to the right bottom. Sometimes it moves other places. If I use absolute coordinates it will cut/frame where I would expect. What I have to do to make it work is copy whatever I’m trying to cut into a new instance of Lightburn and then it does what I would expect, at least the first time. While it works, it’s really annoying and I have to set all my cut settings again (yes I know I could set default settings but I just haven’t and doesn’t solve the whole problem anyways). My software is up to date with the latest released version. Has anyone seen this before, and more importantly, know how to fix it?
Post a screenshot of your entire Lightburn screen with your project loaded and the laser panel and move panel visible. (no phone pics please)
I figured it out. I somehow had Use Selection Origin turned off. Turn that back on and all of a sudden it does what I expect.
I’ve never touched that toggle unless I did it by mistake. Also if it cuts right the first time, why would would the origin move?

You gotta get in line to claim that prize! ![]()
If the Start From: setting is Current Position, then wherever the laser head ended up after the previous job is where the next job will start from. Pondering the doc may explain what’s going on:
For Ruida controllers, you must set the origin with the controller’s Origin button.
