I have been engraving some stars for christmas, but after a while i encountered a problem… Whenever i want to start engraving, i get an error message
“Transfer failed - Lightburn 1.4.03
There was a problem sending data to the laser. The machine may be busy or paused.”
Ive encountered this twice now, but on the first try i just switched usb ports and it worked fine again… but now ive tried to to restart both my laser and pc to no avail…
this is the console when i start up lightburn, im guessing theres something wrong with lightburn here…
This is broken data transfer. Two options:
- you selected the wrong baud rate to communicate with your laser (which setting do you have in device settings?)
- the USB connection is bad / there’s electrical interference. Try changing the USB cord to a high-quality one
Thank you for answering.
The baud rate was set at 115,200. I will be trying the different baud rates.
As for the electrical interference, what would that exactly mean?
And for the ports, ive tried every usb port, none of them fixed the issue.
I am also sometimes getting “Port failed to open - already in use?” in the console instead of the symbols
First, try another USB cord, I think this might fix the issue. Sculpfun S9’s are known to have a weak USB connection. Electrical interference can be caused by other devices running from the same power line or other cables running across your data line. Try to remove all electrical devices from between the laser and control PC. But I guess, the USB cord will be the best shot. Baud rate is OK.
Well, i took a quick break and it seemed to have fixed itself… lucky me considering i dont have another usb cord.
Thank you for your help!
