Offset issue on second pass

So I am having a small offset issue on the 2nd or 3rd pass from any origin point (absolute, user or current). So if I engrave and cut, and when it completes returns to home or current position, if I hit play again, it is about .2 mm offset from the previous cut.

I don’t think its the controller or the belt as in LaserGrbl I can do multiple passes without any issue.

Again its not multiple passes in one run that has the issue - its when I try to do another pass after it has already completed.

Is there anything I can check? Thanks in advance for any help.

Just for clarity on this, are you actually rehoming at this point or the laser just goes back to its starting position? If rehoming where it’s actually hitting the hardware stops I’ve found for my Ortur Laser Master 2 that precision on the rehome varies by quite a bit. I could never rely on it to follow an existing burn line.

If it’s just going back to starting position then not sure what this might be. Just to cover bases, you’re certain that the burn surface is not shifting between passes? Vibration or any jerking from the mechanical bits could easily move the work item.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah it goes back to the starting point. I thought about small movements but the last piece I actually clamped down and it still did it - also it is always offset to the left - never in any other direction.

Works fine in LaserGrbl - but there is so much missing in that software to use full time.

If it works in LaserGRBL I don’t see any reason it couldn’t work in LightBurn. Suggest you review your device settings and see if you’ve got something weird going on.

Specifically, check Return to Finish Position to see if it’s checked and that it’s set to 0,0:

Also check the GCode tab to see if somehow something else got in there that shouldn’t have.

Thanks - I checked the setting and it is set to 0.0 and 0.0.

Any other thoughts?

Nothing I can think of. Hopefully someone else has an idea.

I do this regularly with LightBurn without an issue so it’s not something inherent in the product.
