OLM3 wifi disconnects LB does not pick it up

Hi,
I’m having some issues with my OLM3, The last 2 days the laser would stop anywhere from 5 mins into a job up to 3 hours. Lightburn does not pick this up and from the screen everything looks fine as if the job is still running, I go check on the machine normally every 30 mins or so, just to see that it has stopped 5 mins into the cut. I can never get it to start at the same spot again, so wasted time and material. I need to close LB completely as just pressing stop in LB freezes into a “busy” state.

I’m not sure if its the Wi-Fi, I would assume if LB picks up that it has been disconnected that a pop up should appear, and the software should not carry on?

My PC is about 10m away from the laser (straight line, 1 x single glaze window between my laser and Wi-Fi router), so can’t use usb at all.

I checked a few other forum posts,
My Wi-Fi devices gets rebooted every 6 hours due to “Loadshedding” in South Africa where our gov turns off the electricity. Hence running time is precious to me.
I have not moved anything around which could interfere with the signal strength.
I have connected the laser to a different router and still faces the same issue.
I have done a laser reset and done a fresh connection to my devices.
There is no IP conflicts as the laser is on static, out of DHCP ranges and have full connection speed, no Quality of Service restrictions.

Using LB v 1.4.00 and the last firmware as of September 2022 on the laser, didn’t check if there is newer firmware out.

When you first turn on the computer and connect to your Ortur LM3, the engraver shares some information back to LightBurn in the Console window. Please select and copy the connection message from the Console window and paste it into a reply here.

This will tell us what the Firmware revision number is, how large the memory (buffer) is, and what some of the communication settings are.

Most recent is now February 2023.

The team at Ortur work to refine firmware and provide an excellent user experience.

In LightBurn, click File, then Save GCode. Let me know how large the GCode file is.

The stop button in the Laser window sends ‘cancel’ (0x18) to the laser engraver. LightBurn may not stop the engraver immediately. After pressing the stop button, an error message should come from the controller stating that it has lost position and reset. I get a smaller version of the connection message as the only behavior to indicate a soft reset was issued.

More about 0x18 here:

For the next job, click ‘show all’ in the Console window in LightBurn. Hopefully we can see the reason for the stop.

This isn’t often enough. LightBurn does not condone or endorse using any laser engraver unattended.
