I’m trying to setup our new Omtech Polar with Lightburn. I started with calibrating the camera. I’ve managed to get through the image calibration and now on the calibration alignment.
When I start the calibration pattern print the Polar makes more noise, the ring around the pause button turns red and nothing happens. If I click frame, the laser head moves around as expected.
I tried to print a simple design, but when I click start the pause button goes red, more noise form the laser, but nothing happens. Frame still works. If I click the send option then the start it does start the print and the laser fires.
I can’t find anything else to try and get the camera alignment print to run.
It sounds like the controller is throwing an error when you attempt to start — since these machines don’t have displays, we don’t know what the exact message is, but it seems likely it’s a positioning issue (the project you’re sending it would cause it to travel outside its physical bounds).
That could be due to Overscanning (added space at the start and ends of Fill engraving that lasers use to speed up and slow down before and after firing), and slowing down the speed of your engraving may resolve that.
For the camera alignment pattern, it may also help to reduce the scale of the engraving.
For your simple design, what Start From mode are you using? Try positioning it directly in the center of your laser’s workspace, and using Absolute Coords.
