I have been using Lightburn for several years now on diode lasers. Atezr l2 36w, Atomstack X20 20w and 2w IR, as well as a Xtool S1 40w with 2w IR.But wanting to get into Fiber lasers and looking at two machines. OMTech Galvo 20w which was told uses a Ruida controller, and a Gweike G2 Plus 20w which what I can gather is a Raycus controller. First which one is better? and second which one works better with lightburn pro from install to operation? Very hard to get any info on these machines and don’t want to waste my money on buying something that will not work. I am running both versions Windows 10 and MacOS Sequoia 15.4. Please help…
I’ve never seen a Ruida connected to a galvo head… Doesn’t mean they don’t exist, just I haven’t ever seen one. Links are always nice for us that are not clear about what machine you have in mind.
If this machine from OMTech is the one you’re comparing to this one from Gweike then I’d suggest you forget the Gweike. The split fiber from OMTech would probably be much more applicable to lots of things compared to the Gweike.
Generally speaking, there are only a power supply, laser source and control board in these. I think you’d be stuck with Gweike for any kind of fix or replacement…
There are other questions about what you can adjust on the Gweike. I’d suggest a MOPA type at about 30W for a good mid range machine. I’d take a mopa with less power than a q-switched fiber machine. I have an M60 JPT M7 MOPA machine…
JPT, Raycus, along with Max are fiber sources. I put them, in what many believe is the dependability of each manufacturer.
Here’s a great little loop from JPT.
Good luck
thank you for that info. I know it’s about marketing but would be nice for companies to be upfront with what they are selling.
these are the two I was looking at including a ComMarker B4 that uses a raycus.
I’m on a fixed income so didn’t want to spend a lot at first. But if I can learn and enjoy it I will definitely be getting a 60 to 100 watt mopa.
My suggestion at this point is the OMTech is more standardized. I see issues with Lightburn now and then with Gweike galvo machines. We know it works fine with the OMTech.
Let some of the others with a Gweike chime in…
I’d suggest a JPT source if possible, they appear to be more dependable.
Some of these lower cost sources don’t have some adjustments or a limited range of adjustments. Any MOPA would allow a wider ability of adjustments.
Thank you so much. That helps with my decision on which way I’m going. All I cared about mainly is that it worked well with lightburn. I can’t see me using any other program.
