OneLaser marketing email today?

Did anyone else get a marketing email from OneLaser today? I’ve never heard of them.

Here’s the interesting part, they sent it to an email address that i have ONLY given to OMtech. This is one of my pet peeves.

Are they owned by omtech, did they buy omtechs email list, or did they obtain the emails addresses in a shady way?

Pretty sure they are independent. Not a shady company either.

They have some really compelling machines too, priced a little out of the entry market range though.

Well I am positive OneLaser sent an email to omtech@mydomain123.com, which means omtech sold contact info, someone at omtech sold them unofficially, or they got hacked. And OneLaser was happy to blast the list to people who never signed up, one of my pet peeves.

I’m curious if any other omtech forum users got the same email yesterday.

You are blaming the wrong entity. Omtech has their own domain (support@omtech.com) and would not use “mydomain123.com” for their emails. ANYBODY can send an email using “Omtech” in the return address. It is likely you (most likely) or someone in your address book that got hacked. It could even be OneLaser that got hacked.

Mark it as SPAM and go on.

I’m not blaming the wrong entity. You misunderstood. I substituted my domain123 for my own website, so I didnt share the full email address on this forum publically.

I use unique alias emails for everything, so if someone leaks that email address, it has to be the only entity that ever had it.

I am positive someone obtained access to omtech email list because that email alias only ever given to them.

The source of this blast was not omtech, it was from another laser company. Either they are affiliated or someone stole the list from a competitor.

Either way, it’s shady.

I hope that explains it better.

Yep, I did not know that detail.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the normal these days. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:
