I have a OozNest Workbee z1+. It uses the Rep Raf firm ware 3.3, installed on a Duet controller. I am running VCarvePro now and I have to import the project in to my workbee. Will I have to do this with MillMage? Im still very new to all this and like MillMage as I learn more .
Not the authority, but I am pretty sure MillMags can only directly control GRBL boards at this time. You can still create GCode files from your designs and send them to the CNC machine. It sounds like that is how you do it now.
The most stable way to run RRF right now is to load onto the controller and run from the web UI.
We are working with Duet to add direct support but will not likely be there at launch.
Ok thank you. I am very interested in this software, so I hope you can get that done when you launch it.
With a couple of workarounds and some caveats, it actually works now, but if those things aren’t obvious to you, I’m not going to tell you how to do it and potentially cause an accident.
The basic work isn’t far off.
Joe,
I played over the long weekend and got my workbee to some what hook up. I tried to run the Duet GCode Flavor but It would not keep the windows installed. I ended up running GRBL M3, kept serial\USB instead of Ethernet/TCPand all my window stayed on screen. I also set my S Values max to 1000. In Device settings I set User Start Script to T111 M06,S0.M5 . The Console says Waiting for connection. I got all this for the AI search. Also I have to keep resizing my computer window tap at the to to get everything to fit on my laptop screen. Like I said I’m very new to this and get frusted and let it set for a time and then come back. I think I have 25 days left on the trial time, I want to see if this is something I want to spend mony on or stay with VCarve Pro.
Thanks Dan
First - MillMage is not for sale, and likely will not be in 25 days. If your trial runs out before it’s on sale, it will automatically be extended. This is meant as a public preview; hence, not everything works. I appreciate the feedback you are giving though and your interest.
What do you mean “It would not keep the windows installed”?
Duet/RRF is currently set as a “no communication” flavor that turns off certain background and UI features. It’s more than just the Custom G-code fields.
As I said previously, parts of RRF work because of their commonality with GRBL, but they are largely not ready for the public to use and will be frustrating if you try to use them as a full-featured tool.
MillMage WILL work as a CAM tool where you save the output and send it to the machine over the WebUI.
If you want to use MillMage directly, here’s what you can expect currently -
Works -
- Creating a job and saving it to G-Code to run from the Duet WebUI (recommended way to use MillMage with Duet currently)
- Sending a job using the start/stop/pause buttons
- Homing using the home button
- Setting workpiece Zero with G54 coordinate system using the “Zero Workpiece” buttons
- MDI commands sent from the console
Does NOT WORK -
- Jogging - it will move the machine, but not correctly. Great way to crash the machine. We can not currently query the position of the machine.
- Probing - If you have a probe macro you use with the WebUI, you could copy that into the MillMage macro buttons. Our probe routines are GRBL only currently
- Speed/Feed overrides
- Job Framing
- Direct position sends
I would not recommend trusting AI to answer questions on unreleased software. The information has no chance of being accurate. At this point, I am the only person in the world who has tried this successfully…
If you insist on direct control, here is the bundle from my machine. You must change the X and Y axis dimensions in device settings and the Zero location. This will at least allow you to stream the job to the machine over USB. We have not set up Ethernet or Wi-Fi-based control yet. This bundle will make the things I mentioned work above, work correctly.
Full Duet support IS planned. It is not under current development, but will be in the coming months. Our dev team has 2 machines coming that will require it, and they are VERY cool. Always a good way to get people to work hard haha.

One of them is a 5x10 foot CNC with an ATC spindle and 12 tools. You better believe I will be motivated to make Duet work on that machine ASAP. It’s just been set aside for initial release because it’s less common and we’re still working with Duet on some of the finer details.
So we should petition ALL the CNC manufacturers to send the team some free hardware…
Thank you for your information. Per your question on the windows, they would not be stacked so you could see or use them. I would have to go and load them each time I open MillMage. I guess what I’m trying to say is with my laser the control windows wouldn’t stay. I’m Still going to play and see if I get something figured out. The file you sent me I can not open. BUT, on the good side this weekend, I got my Rotary to work.
Thanks Dan
