Ok, This may be a setting I’m missing but I would think LB would be smart enough to run over the black lines (top image) only once in a logical order but it wants to cut each one out individually, and not in exactly a logical order (see simulation 2nd image). I tried “remove overlapping lines” but didn’t help much with the order or going over parts that have already been done (3rd image). These lines are precisely on top of one another per shape snap and zooming in as far as possible.
Any suggestions or tricks on getting this optimization working would be great.
What version of LightBurn are you running? If i’m remembering correctly LB before I think 1.4.00 did not accommodate for overlapping lines when part of the line was curved (or something similar). I ran a simple that confirms this is now working.
I just upgraded it to 1.4.0 a few hours ago just in case. Some double-cut, some don’t (red lines). Not so much looking for speed as I am to stop the burning even with air assist.
This is white line to the right of the cursor in the preview image above. This is at the maximum zoom possible and you can see the dashed selected object (the bottom left most outline) is directly on top of the one to it’s right (bottom 2nd from left).
I MIGHT be able to redesign the object to be .1mm larger I suppose but there isn’t an exact coordinate system that I’ve seen in LB. I’m used to programs like InDesign that have a grid snap coordinate system with a 0.001mm accuracy.
How did you create the duplicate copies. Did you use the grid array feature?
Also, are you aware of the way that object snapping works in LightBurn? You can snap object s together by clicking the shape at a line segment or corner when the pointer changes shape into a reticle and then grabbing and moving against another position on the target shape. This may be a little tricky with the rounded corners in your particular case but the principle is the same.
LightBurn also does grid snapping. You can change parameters related to snapping in Edit->Settings.
I had to turn off grid snap to get the object snapping to work right. I wasn’t aware of the grid array feature for making duplicates. I simply copied from the “template” file and pasted the 12 times and moved them to snap each edge
I’m new to lightburn so I’m not familiar with the fancy features. Unfortunately I’m a “learn as I go when needed” type mentality.
I redid the file with a single copy of the template, duplicated 5 times, “move H together”, grouped that result of 6, duplicated that, “move v together” and then move to center. This is the result:
Sure. Here is the “master template” file that has the text and outline grouped and the 12 count file. It only allows me to post 2 else I would include the retry file using the steps in my previous comment.
