Orator Laser master 2 pro runs to top right hand and crashes into rail when "framing"

I’m Running a Mac Book Pro. I’ve been using light burn with this engraver for about a month. recently, when I command the laser to Frame a file I want to engrave, the laser runs to the upper right hand corner of the frame( lower left hand is my home position), hits into the rail and makes an awful noise. I tried updating the firmware and my Mac book won’t recognize the laser when in firmware mode, so I haven’t successfully updated the firmware. I also tried overriding the flame sensor in Console, which did not resolve the problem. Please Help!!!

Can you run these commands in Console and return output?

$I
$$
$H
$#
?

Note that the $H command will home the laser so be on the lookout.

When I run the command $H
The engraver homes normally and replies OK

This doesn’t look good!

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I will be around the computer this morning, so please let me know if there is any other information I can provide.
Thankfully,
Mike

Can you try running the $# command a few times to see if you can get it to complete?

You can see the evidence of the source of your problem here. I’m guessing you have an offset of some sort that’s configured.

Ideally you’d be able to update your firmware as they’ve addressed the conditions that allow this to happen.

If you cannot get $# to return without erroring try issuing this command in Console:

$RST=*

That will reset your controller to default settings which is safe for Ortur controllers. If that work successfully try to retest the laser.

OK, I input the $# command again and got this result:

This is good, right? I’ll try retest the laser now.

Retested the laser and it is working normally now! I have no idea how you knew how to instruct me but it worked and you are awesome. Thank You!

Good to hear. You should really try to update the firmware if you’re able at some point as they’ve resolved some of these issues.
