Ortur/Afuero laser module

I have begun to see “whiskers” on my projects, where the diode laser does not turn off when it should.

I am on direct USB cable conncetion to the. The problem is new and seems to be getting worse. Is this a symptom of a module that is worn out? It has seen heavy use (85-100% beam power) but has not been in use long enough to be anyhwere near MTBF.

Afeuro 5w laser
3000 mm/m
85% power
3 passes

Overscan at 5%

Swapped modules to my original 5w and no difference.

Edit NOPE!! XxxxTurned off overscan…seemed to have been self induced problem.xxx

Solved the outside problem, but not the inside the object problem.

You did not mention your Line Interval or Lines per Inch. Your laser should be capable using 318 LPI for a total cleanup of the inside areas. If it does not, it is likely a mechanical backlash issue.

Yes I have it set to .1 mm interval, 318 LPI.

I tried a few different attacks. I ran a second layer at -90 scan angle.

I also ran at 45 degrees scan angle with multiple layers.

I also slowed down from 3000mm/mm to 2100mm/m. I can get a reasonable result

I bought another USB cable and cleaned both ends and both ports with contract cleaner.

Some improvements.

Still think this is worth investigating.
