Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro pulsing instead of Continuous laser

Last year I successfully used LightBurn vs 1.2.01 with my Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro to laser etch names onto a tumbler. I was using a Windows 10 laptop.
This week, I have been trying to laser etched names onto a Tumbler with the same files from last year that I successfully etched names. But the Ortur Laser pulses instead of sending out a steady stream. So these are the things I have tried:
1. updated the firmware to the Ortur laser (Ortur-LM2-PRO-S2-Firmware)
2. confirmed my settings in Lightburn are correct ($30=1000, $32=1)
3. confirmed Lightburn Device Settings S-value Max = 1000

No luck as the laser still pulses. I installed Lightburn 2.0.02 onto a newer Windows 11 computer, but I still have the same issue.

Does anyone have advice what steps I should take next?

thanks

Does it pulse when you try Framing the part?

Can you use the Fire button, and if so does it pulse?

Have you tested with a lower power and lower speed? If it does not pulse then, you might have a bad power supply.

Hi

Does it pulse when you try Framing the part?

  • It does not pulse when Framing the part. It moves smoothly and the laser is continuous at 2% power. This applies for both the flat engraving and then using a rotary device.

Can you use the Fire button, and if so does it pulse?

  • I do not know what the Fire button is.

  • I created a new file with the capital letter “I” and engraved on a flat surface using the updated Lightburn 2.0.02. At 1000 mm speed - 600 DPI it pulsed. At 254 DPI, the laser swept back and forth smoothly and engraved an “I”. This was odd since the last 3 years the engraving was set to 600 DPI with speeds of 1200mm and 1500mm with no issues.

If it is a diode laser, it is in the Move window. It has to be enabled in Settings. Otherwise there os no Fire button.

2.0.05 is the latest version.

Without knowing more about your machine, I cannot comment on this. But I do know you cannot get 600 LPI (or DPI) with anything except a 5w diode or a fiber laser.

  • I will take a look at this. Can you provide a screenshot of this?

  • I did originally upgrade to version 2.0.05 and experienced the pulsing/stuttering issue. I downgraded to vs 2.0.02 to see if that would help.

  • I have an Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro. It is a diode laser. I also have the Ortur Rotary Roller to engrave Tumblers. Like I stated I have successfully used the same files for the last 3 years to engrave names and logos onto tumblers with the 1.x versions. These were files I created 3 years ago with a lot of experimentation. I created a new file in Lightburn 2.0.02 with the letter “I” with a 254 DPI for the Ortur Rotary Roller and it still stuttered/pulsed to etch the “I” onto masking tape. I could not get the laser to burn smoothly around the Y Axis no matter how I orientated the letter “I”.
  • And then I created a small box the circumference of the tumbler to test. The roller moved smoothly in the Y axis and the laser was continuous at 2% power setting using the Frame. When I tried to etch the box, instead of rolling the tumbler around the Y axis for a smooth burn the laser moved back and forth along the X Axis and incrementally advanced the roller along the Y. No matter what I tried I could not get the laser to burn smoothly around the circumference to etch the lines of the box like I did in the past. Additionally, I had put masking tape on the roller for the etching and even at 100% power and roller speed of 1200mm the burn was a faint white line. In the past I would get a burned line.

thanks for your replies,

Can you post an image of what it does?
