Ortur laser master 3 20 watt

Today a friend got a ortur laser master 3 20 watt machine. Asked me to come help set it up. Got it running and tried to run an svg file on a piece of Baltic Birch. I did 80% power and 1000 speed. It made a very light marking on the wood. I dropped it down 230 speed and 80% power and got an okay line engrave. I run my ortur laser master 2 pro at 500 speed and 100% power to cut birch. I could not get the 3 to even get close to cutting. Any Idea’s of what I did wrong? Is there setting I missed?

Are you certain you weren’t working in mm/s rather than mm/min?
